I have worked most of my life to express my experiences and realizations through art. I have worked in many mediums and find myself focusing now on sculpture in the ceramic arts to describe my current artistic vision. Working with the anatomical constructs, I look to describe the human condition. Figurines are worked up and presented as theatrical tableaus. My works start with life visions I have held, photos I have taken and thumbnail sketches augmented by research. After modeling each figure or figurine in clay, it is glazed and fired. Pieces are then reassembled, to arrive at the final state. I find the challenge of working with three-dimensional art is in recognizing that the works can be viewed from many perspectives and must therefore succeed in communicating from all angles in order to take full advantage of the opportunity to connect with the viewer.
